What a small business website needs to do
Most visitors arrive on a phone and want to know what you do, where you work and how to get in touch. A useful small business website answers those quickly, puts your phone number and quote form on every page, and shows real work and real reviews where you have them.
It also needs to be easy to keep current. Opening hours, prices, service areas and photos change, so the site should let you edit them without paying a developer for every change.
What the quote covers
Every website job starts with a written quote. It lists the pages, who writes the words, which photos are used, the platform and hosting, and what happens after launch. Work is charged from $79 an hour ex GST, and you know the total before anything starts.
If you already have a site, the quote also says what stays, what changes and how existing page addresses will be kept or redirected, so the search traffic you already have is not thrown away.
You own the domain, the site and every login
Plenty of business owners have lost a website when a developer stopped answering. Your domain, hosting, website and email accounts are set up in the business's name, and the handover lists every account, who owns it and how to recover it. If you ever move to someone else, the whole site goes with you.
Platforms we work with
New sites are built on WordPress, or on Next.js with Payload CMS when a business needs a fast site with editable content and room to grow. This website is built that way.
For existing sites, Josh C supports WordPress and WooCommerce, Shopify, Wix and Squarespace. The first step is to check the platform, the hosting and who has access, then fix what is broken before suggesting anything bigger.
How this website was rebuilt without losing an address
When this site was rebuilt in October 2026, the old site had 40 public addresses with some search history behind them. Of those, 38 kept the same address, and two pages that genuinely merged were given permanent redirects to the closest matching page, so old links and bookmarks still land somewhere useful.
The new site has more than 70 published pages, each with its own title, description and plain English answer near the top. Google's Lighthouse tests scored 100 for accessibility, best practices and SEO on every page type tested, and the structured data passed validation with no errors. Enquiries are saved before any email is sent, so a mail problem cannot lose a customer's message.
Getting found on Google and in AI answers
A clear page for each service, titles that match what people search for, your service area and accurate business details all help Google and AI tools understand a business. For local searches, reviews and a Google Business Profile matter as much as the website itself.
Nobody can promise a ranking or an AI citation. A site built this way gives your business a fair chance of being found, understood and quoted.
Common questions
How much does a small business website cost?
Website work is charged from $79 an hour ex GST, and you get a quote with the total before anything starts. The cost depends mainly on the number of pages, how much help you need with the words and photos, and whether an existing site has to move without losing its search traffic. For comparison, Perth web designers who publish package prices start at around $2,000 for a few pages.
Do I own the domain and the website?
Yes. The domain, hosting, website and logins are set up in your business's name. The handover lists each account and how to recover it, so you are never left waiting on a developer to make a change.
Can you fix my current website instead of building a new one?
Yes. Many sites only need a broken form fixed, plugins updated or the phone number made easy to tap. Josh C checks the current platform first and only suggests a rebuild when the site can no longer be supported.
Which website platforms do you support?
WordPress and WooCommerce, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace and sites built on Next.js. Send the website address if you're not sure what it runs on, and Josh C will check.
How quickly will you reply?
Enquiries get a reply the same business day. You can also call Josh C on 0408 530 303.
