A laptop that starts slowly, a printer that vanishes or a new device that cannot reach business files can interrupt a full day’s work. Desktop support starts by separating the device fault from an account, app or network problem.
We can scope troubleshooting or setup for the Windows and Mac devices your business uses. Physical repairs, replacement hardware and specialist data recovery are separate decisions after the situation is understood.
Start with a fault you can describe
Does the slowdown happen before sign in, when a particular app opens or only during a video call? Does the printer fail for one person or for everyone? These details help avoid changes to the wrong part of the setup.
A new starter’s device needs a different review. We check the required accounts, software, file access and connected devices, then agree on what the person must be able to do before the handover.
Work out what is slowing the device down
A slow computer can have several causes. We check the symptoms, available storage, software behaviour and recent changes rather than assuming that more memory will fix it. If the issue only occurs in one app, we investigate that separately.
Tell us the device model, operating system and when the slowdown occurs. Physical damage or failing components may need a repair specialist.
Prepare for changes and replacement
Before resetting or replacing a device, identify the files, accounts and software the person needs. Confirm which files have a recoverable copy and which licences can move. A new laptop is not ready for work simply because it turns on.
We can scope setup, sign in, updates, business software and the handover. Hardware purchases and physical repairs are agreed separately.
Keep access and updates manageable
Individual accounts, a sensible update process and documented recovery access make future support easier. If several devices need central management, we can review whether your existing tools and licences support it. The aim is a setup the business can maintain.
Repair, configure or replace
A replacement device may be sensible when the hardware cannot support the required software or a repair costs more than the business can justify. It should not be the automatic answer to a slow app or incorrect sign in.
Before a reset or replacement, we establish where files live, how they can be recovered and which subscriptions or licences are involved. If a device shows signs of hardware failure, repeated attempts to repair software may be the wrong next step.
What the handover should include
For troubleshooting, the handover should explain the finding, changes and remaining limitations. For a setup, we check the agreed work such as signing in, sending email, reaching files and using required apps.
The business should retain its account ownership and recovery information. Disposal or reuse of the old device needs a separate decision about business data.
