Perth Microsoft 365 DLP support with Australia wide remote help. Scope sensitive data rules, check licences and test policies before enforcement.

Microsoft 365 data loss prevention uses policies to identify sensitive information and respond to specified sharing activity. We help scope the information, supported locations and intended response before testing the policy in your environment.

## What we can help with

- Sensitive information and workflow scope
- Microsoft Purview licence and location review
- Policy design and staged testing
- Alert ownership and exception documentation

A payroll file should not be sent to an unintended recipient, but the bookkeeper still needs to share approved records with the right person. That distinction belongs in the policy before blocking starts.

Our Perth based business offers remote DLP scoping and configuration support across Australia. We agree on the systems, expected evidence and fees before working with sensitive information.

## Identify the information and the allowed work

Describe the records you want to protect and who legitimately needs them. Customer details, payroll records and commercial documents may have different sharing requirements. We use approved examples to make the rule concrete.

The business needs to decide what should be allowed and what should trigger attention. A label saying confidential is not a complete policy brief.

## Check the locations and licence dependencies

Microsoft Purview DLP supports multiple locations, with different prerequisites and licensing requirements. We check the specific email, file or other locations you want in scope rather than assuming one subscription covers them all.

An initial implementation can concentrate on the area that matters most. Wider coverage should follow a clear requirement and cost decision.

## Choose a response that matches the consequence

A policy can flag an activity or restrict it where the product and location support that action. Some workflows may need an approved exception. Staff need to understand what a warning means and who can resolve it.

We agree on the intended behaviour before configuration. A broad block without a workable exception process can interrupt legitimate work.

## Test before applying restrictive settings

Microsoft provides simulation modes for reviewing policy behaviour. We scope appropriate test examples and inspect the effect before applying a restrictive rollout.

Tests should include allowed work as well as prohibited sharing. If ordinary records trigger too often, the rule needs adjustment rather than asking staff to ignore every warning.

## Decide who handles alerts and exceptions

A policy requires a person responsible for reviewing its results. Agree on the evidence they need, where alerts go and how exceptions are approved. Retained information should suit the business requirement.

Ongoing review is a separate responsibility from initial configuration. It needs an agreed arrangement if you want a provider to perform it.

## Document the rule and its limits

The handover should name covered locations, policy behaviour and checks completed. It should explain gaps, licence dependencies and the process for changing the rule.

DLP is one control within the environment. It does not replace an access review, separate recovery planning or the judgement staff need when handling business information.

## Common questions

### Is DLP included in every Microsoft 365 subscription?

No. Availability depends on the licence, feature and location. We check the proposed design against current requirements before implementation.

### Can DLP stop staff doing legitimate work?

A poorly scoped policy can interrupt work. Testing should include permitted activities and an agreed process for exceptions before restrictive settings are enabled.

### Does DLP replace a backup?

No. DLP addresses specified data handling activity. Backup and recovery work addresses how business information can be restored.

### Can we begin with one mailbox or file area?

A limited scope may be appropriate after reviewing the supported locations and requirements. It gives the business a defined starting point for testing.
